Wed November 15, 2017 News
Attorney Kenneth Crews presented his study of copyright issues to the delegates from more than 120 countries attending a session of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), an agency of the United Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland. His study analyzes statutory copyright exceptions from all 191 countries that are members of WIPO. The focus of his study is on the statutes that create exceptions explicitly applicable to libraries and archives. These provisions are the subject of challenging discussions at international organizations, and Dr. Crews’ study offers guidance that is shaping negotiations leading to possible treaty developments.
