Lawrence E. May has developed a broad transactional and counseling practice during more than thirty-five years of solo practice in Los Angeles. He primarily represents high net worth clients with family-owned and other closely-held entities involving business, real estate and estate planning matters. Larry’s business practice includes the lifecycle of entities from formation to exit strategy including succession planning and merger and acquisition activity.
Real estate transactions include the purchase, sale, and leasing of commercial, industrial, office and single and multi-family residential properties, including counseling with respect to the entities owning such properties. For estate planning and trust administration matters, he works closely with families and their advisors to fashion planning to provide intended distributions, tax reduction and legacy planning while observing family objectives.
Larry has served as President of the Beverly Hills Bar Association and has chaired the Board of Directors of Public Counsel, the largest pro bono law firm in the United States. He began his career at the prestigious New York-based law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison. He received his B.A and J.D from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Larry has been designated a Southern California Super Lawyer every year since 2005. He has also received an ‘AV’ rating from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for professional excellence.
In addition, he is a long-time member of Provisors, a nationwide group of trusted professional advisors, Bruin Professionals, a UCLA alumni group of professional advisors, and the Water Buffalo Club, a charity group raising funds for small children’s charities.
